The total number of tourists staying in accommodations in the Czech Republic touched 4.6 million in 2016 Q2.

PRAGUE – The number of tourists arriving in the Czech Republic during the second quarter of 2016 grew by 3.1 percent compared to the same period in 2015 on the heels of exponentially high interest from Poland and Slovakia, according to data released yesterday by the Czech Statistical Office.
The number of visitors staying in accommodations touched 4.6 million with the highest number hailing from Germany, they making up one-fifth of the total figure. The second largest group of foreign guests was visitors from Slovakia with 168,000, representing a year-on-year increase by 11.2%, while the Polish arrival figures grew by 18.6%.
Also encouraging as far as tourism revenue goes is the trend in the length of stay by visitors. According to the same data, the number of overnight stays in collective accommodation establishments totaled 11.6 million in Q2 2016, a 1.0% increase compared to the same period in 2015.
The spas are also getting more attention. Spa accommodation establishments were visited by 197,000 guests in surveyed period: “this was 4.5% more than the same period of last year and the number of nights went also up by 5.6% due to domestic clients. The number of domestic guest went up by 7.5%, the number of their overnight stays by 10.8%,” the report states.
