PRAGUE – Well, it’s T minus nothing and Rio looks set to be the complete chaos we were all pretty much expecting it to be.
Czech cyclist, Zdenek Stybar, uploaded an Instagram video today that shows, well, not exactly a slight leak in the Olympic Village where the world-class athletes are staying.
Stybar captioned the video of the indoor flood, “Great we have a new shower in the house”.
But hey, don’t take our word for it. Check out Stybar’s video for yourself:
Let’s just hope it’s not toxic water..
Some of our favourite comments on the pretty confronting video include:
@charlesepotts: Better get a bucket to collect that water…you’re going to need it after they shut off the pipes….😯
@miken00nan: I think the Spanish team just flushed the toilet. Whoops
@azdeandobbs: At least it’s good white noise for sleeping.
@berrymountaincycles: Don’t touch anything electrical!
@vince.rosetta: If I were you I’d get out of Rio as soon as the race is over. Then go to the doctor and get tested for diseases.
@daniel_owsiany: Rio got problems? Nah. They got water everywhere to shower with in the athletes village building. Stairwell shower. That’s fancy as f**k.
The Rio Olympics have been plagued, literally (Zika) and metaphorically, with hiccups. From toxic water in the river, to the forced dispossession of thousands of Rio inhabitants of their abodes, it’s been a bit of a circus. And we haven’t even had the opening ceremony yet.
Australian athletes recently complained about the poor state of the Olympic Village, where athletes will be staying for the duration of the games. The Rio Olympic Committee sensibly responded by planting a massive kangaroo sculpture out the front. Nice one.
