Blackmailer scores more than 7.5M Kč from hapless husbands in Brno

PRAGUE – Reminiscent of the Ashely Madison hacks that broke apart many a marriage in the U.S., police in Brno say up to 500 husbands have been stung by a similar scheme in the Czech Republic.

Czech News Agency (ČTK) reported that South Moravian police are dealing with untangling an extensive extortion scheme targeting married men. The unknown offender set up a fake profile of a married female seeking a married male to play ‘sexual games’ with.

The blackmailed would then demand payment of 15,000 Kč or they would reveal the adultery to the cheater’s spouse.

“Based on the information from the dating servers, we know that some 500 people reacted to the advertisement. About 200 people have reported to the police so far,” Stanislav Kovarnik, head of the south Moravian police cyber crime section, told ČTK yesterday.

We have to say we don’t feel too sorry for the conned men here.
